The value of assets in the Spanish individual system pension schemes increased to €82.5bn in January 2023, according to data from Inverco.
Inverco revealed that the value of individual pension scheme assets increased by €2.3bn during the month.
It noted that the positive performance of the markets in January made it possible to offset part of the valuation adjustment recorded in 2022.
The returns in the medium to long term with a long time horizon maintained positive returns, according to Inverco.
For example, at 26 years, pension schemes register an average annual return of 2.5 per cent while, in the 10 to 15 year time horizon, schemes produce an average annual return of 2.7 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively.
The estimated volume of contributions and benefits in January 2023 was contributions of €128m and benefits of €244m, with which the volume of net benefits for the month would reach €116m.
Included in the data was a sample of 860 pension schemes in the individual system, representing 7.37 million members.
