Sampension hires Mads Smith Hansen as new COO

Denmark’s Sampension has hired Mads Smith Hansen as its new chief operating officer, and member of its executive board for Sampension Livsforsikring A / S and Sampension Administration Company A / S.

Sampension Group said it was extending the executive board to a two-man board in light of growing business volume. Smith Hansen will take up his position on 1 April 2020.

“With the new two-man executive, we establish an even stronger managerial foundation, enabling us to maintain and expand Sampension's ability to create value for customers and members,” Sampension board chairman Jørn Pedersen said.

Current executive board member and CEO, Hasse Jørgensen, said he is pleased that the company is strengthening the leadership with the appointment of Smith Hansen.

Fifty-year old Smith Hansen joins from Norli Pension, where he has been CEO since February 2019. Between 2016-19 he was executive vice president at ATP with responsibility for pension, risk management and compliance, and before that he worked nine years at Sampension. He has a masters degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Copenhagen.

“It is fantastic to return to Sampension and I look forward to helping create results for all customers and members of the companies in the group," Smith Hansen said.
