Number of Sampension customers checking pension increases by 89%

The number of Sampension customers that have logged online to check their pension has increased by 89 per cent between 2018 and 2021, the provider has revealed.

At the same time, the number of calls from customers to Sampension has increased by 42 per cent during the same period and there has also been an increase of 169 per cent in the number of written customer inquiries.

Sampension head of marketing and customer advice, Anne-Louise Lindkvist, said historically Danes have not spent time checking their pension as it can be difficult to relate to something so far in the future.

“However, in recent years there has been a landslide and we now see that interest in pensions is at a record high and even higher than in 2020 when coronavirus saw a higher number of Danes to check their pension.”

Lindkvist believes that there are several explanations for the increase. For example, there has been a number of policy changes to pensions in recent year. The state pension age has increased but a new early right to retirement has been introduced.

“In addition, we generally also have larger savings in Denmark, just as more and more Danes are saving up in a so-called market interest rate product, where developments in the financial markets have a greater impact on pension savings than in a traditional average interest rate product,” she says.
