Norges Bank Investment Management appoints Alexander Knapp as global head of real estate

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) has appointed Alexander Knapp as global head of real estate, effective from 16 June 2025.

Knapp joins from Hines, where he held multiple leadership roles during his 16-year tenure. He most recently served as the chief investment officer for Europe, a position he has occupied since 2019.

He is a member of both the Global Executive Committee and the Global Investment Committee.

He will be responsible for the fund’s listed and unlisted global real estate investments and strategy implementation, and based in London.

NBIM co-chief investment officer active strategies, Pedro Furtado Reis, said: “We are delighted to welcome Alexander to lead our real estate team. He brings extensive investment experience and a global perspective.

“We believe he has both the strategic mindset and leadership style needed to excel in this demanding role.”

Knapp added that he is "very much" looking forward to starting at the fund, stating: “I am incredibly excited to join NBIM, an institution I’ve always respected for its long-term perspectives and responsible investment approach.

“I look forward to working with the team to continue building a portfolio that supports the fund’s objectives.”
