Veritas appoints new compliance officer and sustainability specialist

Veritas has appointed Johanna Heikurainen as chief compliance officer and Paula Marjamaa as sustainability specialist.

Heikurainen, who began the new role on 2 January, joined Veritas from Valion Eläkekassa and Valion Keskinäinen Vakuutusyhtiö, where she was head of insurance and legal affairs.

She has also previously worked at Porasto and OP-Eläkekassa.

"The compliance function is becoming increasingly important in the pension industry. It is great to have the opportunity to continue and develop Veritas' compliance program together with the other Veritans," said Heikurainen.

"I have received a very warm reception, and based on the first few months, I can say that my preconceived notion of Veritas as a good employer was correct."

Before joining Veritas on 27 January, Marjamaa worked at Ernst & Young's (EY) environmental and sustainability services, focusing on sustainability consulting and certification.

"I think it is important that corporate responsibility is genuinely part of the company's strategy and thus part of its everyday life. I am eagerly waiting to start promoting Veritas' work on responsibility and reporting on it," said Marjamaa.

"Good discussions and meetings made an impression on me during the recruitment process. It has been great to see how customer-oriented and people-oriented Veritas' work culture is," she added.
