The Pension Federation and the Labour Foundation appoints Thessa Menssen as Pension Fund Code Monitoring Committee chair

The Board of the Pension Federation and the Labour Foundation has appointed Thessa Menssen as the Pension Fund Code Monitoring Committee chair.

She succeeds Yvonne van Rooy, who stepped down on 1 January 2025. Menssen has experience as a director, supervisory director, and supervisor.

Commenting on her appointment, Menssen, said: "I see pensions as an extremely relevant topic. I would like to be involved in a socially important sector that, through this Monitoring Committee, is structurally engaged in discussions about how to manage a pension fund properly.

“Good governance is especially important in times of transition to a renewed and future-proof system for old age, disability, and pension for partners.

“The first meeting with members Pascal, Iris, Rienk, and the advisor Jeroen indicates a Monitoring Committee with members who fulfil their role with enthusiasm."

Adding to this, the Labour Foundation and Pension Federation said that Menssen has “extensive experience” and is a “knowledgeable” advisor and supervisor with an important focus on good governance.

“All this and her motivation make her the right person to fulfil the chairmanship role in the Monitoring Committee,” the Labour Foundation and Pension Federation added.

In addition to this, the Labour Foundation and Pension Federation thanked van Rooy for her efforts in recent years, “With van Rooy, we have had a chair of the Monitoring Committee who strived to promote diversity in the interest of the quality of decision-making and support.”

“She emphasised that sobriety and reliability are important in governance where the political and administrative world mainly issues more rules. We greatly appreciated her involvement and commitment,” it said.

Van Rooy said she was “pleased” with the appointment of Menssen as her successor, as “she is an exceptionally knowledgeable professional, both in the field of governance and in the field of finance”.

"It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be able to serve as chairman of the Monitoring Committee for the past four years,” van Rooy added.

“The renewed Pension Funds Code is entering its second year and with Menssen we have an excellent chairman who will follow the developments together with the Monitoring Committee."
