The Swedish government has appointed Eva Lindström as the new board chair of the First AP Fund (AP1).
Lindström is currently a member of the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg, having previously worked as auditor general between 2003 and 2010 and State Secretary at the Ministry of Enterprise for Mikael Damberg between 2014 and 2018.
In her role at the ministry, Lindström had responsibility for, among other things, corporate governance, capital provision, and the state’s company ownership.
She also previously served at the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance, where she was a ministerial councillor and then budget manager.
Additionally, Lindström has been vice-chair of the Fiscal Policy Council and sat on several other boards, such as the Financial Supervisory Authority and the Swedish Transport Administration.
AP1’s current board chair, Urban Hansson Brusewitz, is leaving the board following the end of his eight-year tenure, while the appointment of other board members has been renewed.
Meanwhile, Johan Gyllenhoff, who has been acting chair of the Fourth AP Fund (AP4) since October 2023, was appointed as the permanent chair of AP4.
Gyllenhoff was previously vice chair of AP4 and is currently head of group finance & treasury at Vattenfall.
“Members of the AP funds' boards are appointed by law on the basis of their ability to promote fund management,” AP1 stated.
“According to practice, they are appointed for one year at a time, with a limitation of about eight years.
“All currently appointed members are appointed from and including 31 May 2024 until the government approves the AP funds' profit and loss accounts and balance sheets for 2024.”
