Swedish AP Funds' Council on Ethics reappoints Pia Axelsson as chair

The Swedish AP Funds’ Council on Ethics has named Pia Axelsson as its new chair, making this her third term in the position.

Axelsson holds the role of senior corporate governance & sustainability manager at the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4).

She has worked as a member of the Council on Ethics since 2012 and said the Council on Ethics has “developed a lot during that time”.

In particular, she noted that the past two years have brought about a new structure and an increase in resources.

She also noted that 2026 will be a year of consolidation for both the AP Funds and the AP Funds’ Council of Ethics, with a particular focus on completing the council’s "intensive" development work in recent years, in collaboration with the AP Funds’ new organisations.

Axelsson explained that the Council on Ethics is an important part of the AP Funds, where resources are pooled together, and advocacy dialogues are conducted with companies it owns with more weight.

Through the Council on Ethics, the team work together to ensure that the AP Funds' portfolio companies develop their sustainability work.

“The Council on Ethics has competent employees, and it is very enjoyable and rewarding to be able to work together with them and with the other AP Funds in such a unique and close collaboration,” Axelsson said.
