Spain’s VidaCaixa reports 15% increase in pension contributions

Contributions to individual pension schemes provided by VidaCaixa increased by 15 per cent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2026, the Spanish pension and insurance group has revealed.

At the end of September 2026, contributions to individual pensions reached €749m, an increase of 15 per cent from the fist nine months of the previous year.

This growth was accompanied by the positive performance of investments managed by VidaCaixa, which reported above-average returns across all time horizons assessed.

Over five years its return was 4.8 per cent, compared to the market average of 4.7 per cent, while over 10 years its return was 5.09 per cent, compared to the market average of 4.5 per cent.

Individual savings insurance policies registered €9.7bn in premiums at the end of September, with lifetime annuity premiums increasing by 18 per cent year-on-year to €4.18bn.

VidaCaixa's total customer assets under management reached €145.5bn at the end of September, representing an increase of 7.7 per cent year-on-year.

Total premiums and contributions totalled €13.3bn, an increase of 40.1 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The company closed the first nine months of the year with a consolidated net profit of €1.1bn, an increase of 10 per cent, and 7.3 million customers, up by 5.2 per cent year-on-year.

Of total customer assets, managed savings insurance and annuities account for more than €93.6bn, an 11 per cent year-on-year increase, with annuities representing around 50 per cent of this total.

“During this same period, VidaCaixa has paid out €4.345bn in benefits in Spain and Portugal, a 2.4 per cent increase, thus reinforcing its contribution to the financial protection and well-being of approximately 800,000 people and their families,” the pension and insurance group noted.

“Almost 90 per cent of the benefits paid have gone to people over 65. This highlights VidaCaixa's role in supporting people during their retirement.”
