Sampension has reached a milestone of DKK 1bn invested within green bonds, following a DKK 100m investment in green German bonds.
The green bonds were purchased in September and it brings Sampension’s total amount of green investments to DKK 13bn.
Sampension deputy investment director, Jesper Nørgaard, said: “We have increased our purchases of green bonds this year and have more than doubled our holdings compared to last year. It is a rapidly developing market, and we are finding more and more green bonds at a good price.”
The purpose of the German securities is to make Germany's green budget expenditure transparent and at the same time strengthen the country's position in sustainable financing.
In the second half of 2020, the Sampension community also invested DKK 70m in bonds from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
In addition to green bonds issued by countries such as Germany, the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) or the World Bank, green investments also include forests, wind farms and biogas production.
