Pensioenfonds PostNL current funding ratio falls to 131.7%

The current coverage ratio of Pensioenfonds PostNL fell from 131.7 per cent in January 2025 to 131.5 per cent in February 2025, although the policy coverage ratio remained the same at 132.4 per cent at the end of the month.

The group said that the slight fall in the current coverage ratio was driven by falling interest rates, while investment returns also had a negative effect on the coverage ratio.

However, Pensioenfonds PostNL confirmed that its board regularly discusses developments on the markets and in the investment portfolio with the investment advisors, confirming that no additional measures are required at this time.

The group also confirmed that, despite the slight fall, the current coverage ratio marked a year-on-year improvement, up from 130.8 per cent in February 2024.

This meant that the policy coverage ratio remained the same at 132.4 per cent after being rounded to 1 decimal place.

The policy coverage ratio is the average of the actual coverage ratios of the past 12 months.

"At the current policy coverage ratio, the pension fund is doing relatively well," the fund stated.
