NBIM commits €1.2bn to unlisted renewable energy infrastructure

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), responsible for the investments of the Government Pension Fund Global, has committed €1.2bn to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ (CIP) sixth flagship renewable energy fund, CI VI.

CI VI will primarily invest in generation and storage of renewable energy across Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries in North America, Western Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The agreement was signed on 1 October.

NBIM has previously invested in CIP’s renewable energy funds, committing €900m to CIP’s fifth flagship fund, CI V, in 2024.

Commenting on the investment, NBIM global head of energy and infrastructure, Harald von Heyden, said: "CI VI allows us to keep investing in renewable energy projects at the development stage and builds on a partnership that has worked well for the fund since 2024."
