Denmark’s Industriens Pension has chosen to extend its contract with Edlund, which covers the operation of its pension administrative systems and the development of new digital solutions.
Announcing the decision, Industriens Pension IT manager, Aksel Bjørn Møller, said that user-friendly digital products and self-service solutions for members are a “high priority” for the provider, noting that the group also recently received the pension industry’s best rating in an annual report on digital solutions in the financial sector from FinansWatch and the analysis company Wilke.
“We already have a well-functioning collaboration with Edlund, and we are really happy about the new agreement, which includes both system maintenance and digital development projects,” he continued.
“Edlund has built up a good feeling for when we internally at Industriens Pension have the capacity to execute digital development projects, and when they should, to a greater extent, drive a development process themselves. That kind of understanding and division of labour suits us well.”
He also said that the agreement with Edlund fits “perfectly” with the provider's broader approach, which is based on using module-based solutions, which it can relatively easily renew and replace individual digital modules without affecting the entire overall data architecture.
Edlund chief commercial officer, Bo Ketil Riemer suggested that the contract renewal also shows what customers value most, emphasising that like Industriens Pension, other life and pension companies also prioritize high operational reliability combined with maximum flexibility to meet their business needs.
“The answer to this need is increased use of configurable standard functionality,” he continued.
“Specifically, this means that in addition to ensuring stable operation of our solutions, we also investigate whether there is proprietary code in a system portfolio that can be replaced with standard code from Edlund's solutions. In this way, over time, we help our customers move more and more custom-developed solutions to Edlund's standard, which results in a lower total cost.”
