Ilmarinen appoints Rami Vehmas as chief equity officer

Finnish earnings-related pension provider Ilmarinen has appointed Rami Vehmas as chief equity officer, effective from 1 November.

Vehmas has worked at Ilmarinen for over 19 years in equity investing, most recently as senior portfolio manager.

He has in-depth knowledge of both domestic and international stock markets and had a key role in developing Ilmarinen's sustainability and ownership policy.

Commenting on the appointment, Ilmarinen chief investment officer, Annika Ekman, said that the provider surveyed candidates from inside and outside Ilmarinen and, as a result of the application process, it chose Rami Vehmas based on his “strong expertise and vision in equity investing".

“The pension reform that will enter into force next year to strengthen the financing of our pension system will give us the opportunity to increase equity risk, and I believe that Rami Vehmas' long experience in the stock market will play an important role in this,” he said.

"Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. Working at Ilmarinen has been really rewarding, and I feel privileged to be able to work with highly skilled professionals. I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that the new position will bring," Vehmas added.
