Finnish earnings-related TyEL pension transfers amount to €941.1m in Q3

The number of Finnish earnings-related Employees Pensions Act (TyEL) pension transfers amounted to €941.1m in the third quarter of 2024, according to the Finnish Pension Alliance (Tela).

The third quarter of 2024 also saw transfers for the Self-Employed Persons’ Pensions Act (YEL) pension insurance total €77.5m.

In addition to this, the findings showed the number of TyEL policies transferred from one pension insurance company to another totalled 2,663. Meanwhile, for YEL insurance, the number of transfers amounted to 3,164.

Occupational pensions, such as TyEL or YEL insurance, can be transferred by policyholders from one occupational pension company to another, provided that the earnings-related pension insurance had been obtained from the same company for at least one year before the transfer.

There are four deadlines a year for transferring pensions - the first day of January, April, July, and October.
