The Finnish Centre for Pensions (ETK) has launched a new digital learning game about occupational pensions, in partnership with the Youth Academy.
The game, Safe from retirement, aims to educate young people about Finland's occupational pension security during one lesson.
Themes discussed in the game include how young people accumulate a pension from work and studies, what security pensions bring and when to take out entrepreneur's pension insurance.
It also aims to explain why the occupational pension system exists, who are the actors in it and how the pensions are financed.
The game can be played in Finnish and, from January 2025, will also be available in Swedish.
The game, which is free for educational institutions and other youth groups, is designed to be played in lessons in pairs or small groups, as learning takes place by talking and interacting with others.
Commenting on the launch, ETK communication expert, Marjo Skoglund, said: "The content of the game was developed in a separate workshop together with the students.
"In addition, the game was tested with young people and this way feedback was collected for further development.
"Pension issues can seem distant to young people. Even at a young age, it is good to be aware that many choices during your working career have an impact on the amount of your future pension."
"Better knowledge also creates the conditions to follow and participate in the social debate about pensions, in which the voice of young people is welcome."
