Achmea CRO Michiel Delfos to step down in 2026

Achema’s chief risk officer, Michiel Delfos, is to step down as a member of Achmea’s Executive Board in 2026.

Delfos has worked at the company for 12 years, including four years as a member of the Executive Board. He now plans to focus his time on new opportunities, on both a business and personal level.

He started at Achema as director of Property & Casualty insurance in early 2014, before being appointed as chair of the Non-life division in October 2015. In April 2022, he joined the Executive Board.

Achmea chair of the Executive Board, Bianca Tetteroo, said: "With his strong commitment and clear vision, Michiel has made a lasting impact on the development of risk management at Achmea.

“In addition, he has led the development and implementation of our sustainability ambitions with great passion. While we are sad to see Michiel leave, we respect his decision. We look forward to continuing to work together in the period ahead.”

Commenting on his own departure, Delfos said he decided not the seek a second four-year term after “careful consideration”.

“It was not an easy decision, as I am certain I will miss Achmea and the wonderful people around me. I look back with pride and gratitude on the many memorable moments and numerous achievements we shared over the past 12 years.

“At the same time, I look forward with confidence to a future full of new opportunities. Over the coming months, I will continue to dedicate myself fully to Achmea and ensure a smooth transition for my successor.”

His exact departure date in 2026 will depend on the start date of the successor; the recruitment process is underway.
