State Street Global Advisors appoints Gordon Kearney as head of investments for Europe

State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has appointed Gordon Kearney as SSGA Europe Limited head of investments, succeeding James Binny, who announced his retirement in 2024.

Kearney will report to the head of investment strategy and operations, Olivia Engel, and be based in Dublin, Ireland.

In his new role, he will oversee portfolio management activities and investment staff across Europe, alongside serving as the designated representative in Europe for clients and relevant regulators on all investment matters.

He has more than 20 years of experience and has been at SSGA since 2007, most recently as a senior investment manager in the Investment Solutions Group where he led asset allocation portfolio management in Europe.

Before joining SSGA, he spent five years as a pensions and investment consultant at WTW.

Commenting on Kearney’s appointment, Engel said SSGA is “delighted” to have Kearney take on the role and said his “extensive experience” in the industry and within its Investment Solutions Group was an “invaluable” asset to its success.

“We look forward to continue working together with Gordon in strengthening our relationships with clients and regulators, and building on our growth in Europe,” she said.

Adding to this, Kearney said: “I’m excited to continue supporting clients and colleagues in this new role, and look forward to building relationships with stakeholders across the industry, with innovation and evolution at the heart of what we do.”
