The Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK) has named Lars Martin Bjørnsrud Hopmoen as its new pension expert, as it looks to strengthen its efforts to provide guidance to members amid rising public interest in retirement planning.
Bjørnsrud Hopmoen has worked at SPK for a decade and is currently an advisor at the fund’s customer centre, which handles nearly 150,000 enquiries each year.
In his new role, the 32-year-old will also act as a public-facing pensions specialist, sharing insights through media and social channels, as well as offering practical advice to help members achieve financial security in later life.
“Interest in pensions has increased in recent years, also among young people. At the same time, many people think pensions are complicated and find it difficult to know what applies to them,” Bjørnsrud Hopmoen commented.
SPK currently provides pensions and insurance to nearly 1.2 million Norwegians, and Bjørnsrud Hopmoen, a specialist in public sector schemes, will work alongside colleague Svein Rasmussen to enhance awareness of the benefits available to its members.
“We will help more people understand what options they have, for example, combining work with drawing a pension," he continued.
"Everyone should be confident they are making good choices for themselves, adapted to their own needs and life situation,” added Bjørnsrud Hopmoen.
