Pensioenfonds PostNL current funding ratio falls to 131.9%

The current funding ratio of Pensioenfonds PostNL fell slightly over the past month, dropping from 133.7 per cent in September to 131.9 per cent in October, its latest update has revealed.

This also marked a year-on-year fall, as the current funding ratio previously stood at 134.4 per cent at the same time last year (October 2023).

The current coverage ratio is dependent on the level of investments and provisions, with the fall in interest rates over the past month having a negative impact on the current coverage ratio.

In addition to this, the value of investments fell in October, which also had a negative impact on funding levels.

As a result of this, the group's policy coverage ratio, which is the average of the current coverage ratios of the past 12 months, has also fallen slightly to 132.1 per cent.

However, Pensioenfonds PostNL emphasised that its board regularly discusses developments on the markets and in the investment portfolio with the investment advisors, to decide whether additional measures are required.

Despite the slight fall, it confirmed that no additional measures are required at this time.

The pension fund also has a crisis plan that provides support.
