Dutch pension fund Pensioenfonds PostNL has seen its policy funding ratio fall over August to 134.8 per cent, down from 135.3 per cent.
The policy funding ratio is the average of the current funding ratios from the past 12 months. As of August 2023, the funding ratio was 134 per cent, this is down from August 2022 when it stood at 140.9 per cent, which explains the decline in the policy funding ratio of 0.5 percentage points.
In July 2023, the funding ratio was 135 per cent, which means the fund saw its funding ratio drop a percentage point over the month. Despite the decline in the funding ratio, the pension fund said that the funding of the scheme is in “relatively good shape”.
The pension fund attributed the decrease in its funding ratio to a fall in the value of its investments in August.
“The board regularly discusses developments in the markets and in the investment portfolio with our investment advisers. This ensures proper monitoring of whether and when additional measures are necessary. No additional measures are necessary at this time,” the pension fund stated.
