The policy funding ratio of the Netherlands’ Pensioenfonds PostNL dropped slightly to 132.6 per cent in January 2024.
The policy funding ratio, which is the average of the current funding ratios for the past 12 months, has fallen by 0.2 percentage points, as it was 132.8 per cent in December 2023. However, when compared to January 2023, when it was 130.5 per cent, it has moderately improved.
Pensioenfonds PostNL said the current policy funding ratio means that the pension fund is in “relatively good shape”.
In addition, the current funding ratio remained stable at 128.1 per cent in January 2024, the same as December 2023.
“Interest rates rose slightly in the past month. This had a positive effect on the current funding ratio. The value of investments fell slightly in January. That had a negative effect on the funding ratio. Taken together, these movements more or less cancel each other out. Therefore, the current funding ratio remains stable in January 2024,” the fund noted.
In December 2023, the pension fund announced that it would be uprating pensions by 3.15 per cent in 2024.
