The Dutch fund for the care and welfare sector Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn (PFZW) has invested in sustainable fuel through an investment in Elyse Energie.
Elyse Energie is a French company that specialises in building plants to produce sustainable, alternative fuels. Examples include fuel for aircraft but also for ocean vessels and large chemical plants.
The pension fund did not reveal how much it has invested but said its investment will contribute to an expected 700,000 tonnes of CO2 per year being saved, equivalent to flying to and from New York from the Netherlands 1,750 times.
PFZW said that investment in the energy transition allows it to achieve good returns for its members, while also fitting in with its goal to have a climate neutral investment portfolio with zero net CO2 emissions by 2050.
“The investment in Elyse Energie is in line with the objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement and it fits in with our goal to pay our members a good pension in a world that is habitable, now and in the future.
