Nicolai Tangen secures second five-year term as NBIM CEO

Norges Bank Investment Management CEO, Nicolai Tangen, has secured a second five-year term in the role.

The decision was made by Norges Bank’s Executive Board and will see Tangen, who has been CEO of NBIM since September 2020, begin his second term from 1 September 2025.

Norges Bank Executive Board chair, Ida Wolden Bache, said: “Nicolai Tangen is highly experienced with in-depth insight into international investment management. Over the past four and a half years, he has demonstrated a strong ability to deliver and achieve solid results as CEO of NBIM.

“In the view of the Executive Board, Nicolai Tangen is the right person to head NBIM in the years ahead. We are pleased that he has accepted a further term as CEO.”

Speaking about the re-appointment himself, Tangen said the role is “the most rewarding job I have ever had”.

“I therefore deeply appreciate this renewed trust and look forward to five more years with my talented colleagues,” he added.

Tangen holds a degree in finance from Wharton School of Finance and master’s degrees in social psychology from the London School of Economics and in history of art from the Courtauld Institute of Art.

Before his first term as CEO of NBIM, he was CEO of AKO Capital, a firm he founded in 2005.
