Laegernes Pension debates oil and weapons investments at AGM

The Danish Doctors' Pension Fund (Lægernes Pension) has adopted the exclusion of companies involved in the establishment of a maintenance company for the operation of oil and gas wells at its annual general meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 30 April.

However, the Responsible Investment List also proposed the exclusion of companies involved in the production of conventional weapons for military use, which was not adopted.

The Danish Medical Association proposed holding delegate elections every year, which was also not adopted. As a change in the articles of association, this proposal required a majority of 2/3 to be adopted.

The AGM also saw four elections. Laegernes Pension board of directors deputy chairman, Rune Petring Hasselager, resigned as a board member as pension fund members can serve on the board for a maximum of six years.

Additionally, Hvidovre Hospital Department of Day Surgery chief physician, Bjarne Skjødt Hjaltalin, and Holte Medical Centre general practitioner, Christian Freitag, were re-elected to the medical board.

Herlev and Gentofte Hospital clinical assistant/PhD student, Department of Children and Adolescents, Camilla Birgitte Sørensen, has been elected to the medical board.

Laegernes Pension said that three medical candidates had signed up, which is why all three candidates were elected.

Additionally, Pensam investment director, Claus Jørgensen, was re-elected as external board member.
