Kåpan Pension appoints Marie Giertz as CEO

The board of directors of Sweden’s Kåpan Government Employees Pension Fund has appointed Marie Giertz as its CEO.

Giertz is currently deputy CEO of Kåpan and head of asset management. She will take up her new role as CEO on 1 February 2025 and succeeds Gunnar Balsvik, who has been CEO of Kåpan since 2003.

She has previously been chief economist at Svensk Exportkredit and head of analysis at Länsförsäkringars Kapitalförvaltning. Giertz is an economist and has worked at Kåpan since 2016.

"We on the board are very pleased that Marie has agreed to take on the responsibility as CEO of Kåpan. She has long and solid experience in Kåpan, the pension industry and the financial sector.

"Kåpan is a very well-managed and strong organisation and with Marie as the new CEO, we will ensure that Kåpan has both the strength required to continue to develop and be at the forefront, but also the continuity needed to continue to deliver good pensions to those who work in the civil service," Kåpan chair of the board, Dan Sjöblom, said.
