Dutch pension funds report mixed results

Several Dutch pension funds have published funding updates for their schemes, which reported mixed results in their policy and current funding ratios.

Pensioenfonds PME reported a 0.2 per cent increase in its current coverage ratio in February, rising to 115.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, the current coverage ratio of Pensioenfonds Hoogovens rose from 125.6 per cent to 126.1 per cent in February.

At the beginning of 2025, its current coverage ratio was 122.2 per cent.

The firm said the 1.0 percentage point increase was due to the discount rate.

As a result, the value of its invested capital increased from €10,411m to €10,609m.

At the same time, its policy coverage ratio remained at 124.1 per cent in February, 19.0 percentage points lower than the coverage ratio for future-proof indexation (TBI).

Pensioenfonds UWV, meanwhile, reported a policy coverage ratio of 119.5 per cent in February, a slight decrease of 0.1 per cent from January.

The current coverage ratio also decreased slightly to 118.5 per cent, down from 118.8 per cent in January.
