Dutch pension fund UWV announces two appointments to its Accountability Body

The Dutch pension fund for employees of the Dutch Workers Insurance Authority (UWV) has appointed Menno Boonstra as a member and Cihan Sesver as a substitute member to its Accountability Body on behalf of the employer.

Boonstra has worked at UWV as head of internal audit since April 2023 and has a background in business administration, working as an IT auditor.

In that role, he gained an insight into the workings of TKP, the administrative body of the UWV Pension Fund. This role was his first introduction to the world of pensions.

In his current position, Boonstra is connected to the work of the Accountability Body, which supervises the pension fund's board policy, provides advice and asks critical questions if necessary.

Meanwhile, Sesver is an employment lawyer and has been working at UWV since September 2025 as an employment conditions and employment relations adviser.

In this role, she is involved in developing the UWV’s terms of employment policy, particularly working on the collective labour agreement and the social plan.

Commenting, Boonstra and Sesver said: “What makes the work in the Accountability Body especially interesting is that we see how the pension system and the pension scheme are viewed by different groups. Pensioners, workers of different ages and the employer: all opinions come together in the Accountability Body.

“In addition, it is important to closely monitor how the board implements the agreements in the pension regulations and makes policy. The transition to the new rules for pensions is something we, as Accountability Body members, can really sink our teeth into. It is a unique moment to think along. It is important that the plan is fair to everyone and that the risks are fairly distributed.”
