Dutch fund ABP commits €70m to fund for innovative software companies

The Dutch pension fund ABP is investing €70m in Foundation Fund II, offered by Main Capital Partners.

The fund targets relatively small companies with innovative IT solutions and recently acquired a majority stake in Xitres, a Dutch provider of software solutions for the real estate market.

“With this investment, ABP can help innovative companies in the Netherlands continue to grow. Companies in which the fund invests use the money, for example, to further develop and expand their innovative IT solutions,” the pension fund said.

The investment was made by ABP’s asset manager, APG, on its behalf.

Commenting on the investment, APG private equity investor, Carlos Garcia Rivas, said: “Dutch companies that secure an investment from Main Capital benefit considerably from this active value creation strategy, placing them in a more competitive position internationally, in addition to also contributing to higher profitability, employment growth and fostering domestic technical talent and expertise.”

The fund focuses on smaller companies offering modern software solutions that work as an online service. Main Capital has a strong position and years of experience in the Dutch market. The fund is expected to invest much of the money in companies in the Netherlands.

Its most recent investment, Xitres, is a Hengelo-based provider of cloud-based CRM solutions that enable clients to digitally manage the entire customer journey throughout the sales and rental processes while facilitating efficient communication with potential buyers and tenants.

“Given the significant housing shortages in the Netherlands, the need for innovative tooling that optimises such processes has become more relevant and crucial than ever,” Rivas added.
