Denmark’s Industriens Pension appoints Peter Mikkelsen as head of investments in infrastructure and real estate

Denmark’s Industriens Pension has appointed Peter Mikkelsen as head of investments in infrastructure and real estate, effective from 1 March 2025.

Mikkelsen will replace Jan Østergaard as part of an "ongoing generational change". Østergaard will remain in a specialist role, collaborating throughout the organisation on product development within the investment sector.

In his new role, Mikkelsen will lead a department that currently manages investments, including into infrastructure assets worldwide and Danish and foreign properties.

Mikkelsen will also be responsible for the process of putting together the investment universe in Industriens Pension as efficiently as possible.

Prior to this, he was a co-owner of Marselis and worked as a investment director at the comapny. He has also held various management positions at Nordea for many years, most recently he was responsible for the Nordea Group's own liquid bond portfolio as well as its portfolio of alternative investments.

Earlier in his career, Mikkelsen also held management positions at ABN AMRO Bank in Copenhagen and London and has worked with investments across various asset classes for 25 years.

Commenting on Mikkelsen’s appointment, Industriens Pension investment director, Peter Lindegaard, said: “I am convinced that we at Industriens Pension can benefit greatly from Peter Mikkelsen's many years of experience with investments across asset classes at a high level.

“Peter has been widely in the investment world in his career so far, and he has the right prerequisites to ensure continued good results in complex investment areas such as infrastructure and real estate.”

Lindegaard added that he was “very pleased” Industriens Pension can continue to benefit from Østergaard competencies in the organisation.
