AkademikerPension invests DKK 685m in new fund

Denmark’s AkademikerPension has announced plans to invest DKK 685m in a new fund, which specialises in providing loans to companies and projects in developing countries that help meet the UN's global goals.

The fund, which is managed by the Dutch manager ILX, aims to bring investors together with several international development banks with a view to co-financing some of their projects.

In line with this, ILX chooses projects for the fund that meet the objective of promoting the UN's global goals, and at the same time provide a good return.

These include projects within renewable energy, sustainable production or food safety.

Commenting on the investment, AkademikerPension investment director, Anders Schelde, said: "With this investment, we can tick off both returns and responsibility.

"A large number of developing countries get access to capital, while our members get a stable return."

In total, investors have pledged DKK 11.5bn in ILX.
