Alecta recruits Johanna Bälter as head of HR

Swedish pension provider Alecta has appointed Johanna Bälter as head of HR, with her role commencing on 1 September 2026.

Bälter, who is currently a business partner in Alecta's HR department, succeeds Maria Wahl Burvall, who will retire on 31 August 2026.

Prior to Alecta, Bälter worked in HR at Karolinska University Hospital, Hultsfred Municipality and others.

Commenting on the appointment, Alecta CEO, Peder Hasslev, said: “Maria has pushed for the development of Alecta's leadership, and also contributed in many other ways to the development of Alecta's operations and culture.

“Johanna has been very involved in this work, so it is gratifying that we can recruit her as a successor. She is a highly appreciated and respected employee and will contribute to Alecta's continued development. We also wish Maria the best of luck in retirement.”

Adding to this, Bälter said it is “great” to take over from Wahl Burvall and that she is “really looking forward” to continuing the work of developing Alecta's HR work and contributing to the development of Alecta.
